  • Effective July 31, 2025, New York employers no longer need to provide COVID-19 sick leave.
  • Form I-9 (8/1/23 edition) has an extended expiration date of May 31, 2027. 
  • New Workplace Violence Prevention Measures Required for New York for employers with 10 or more retail employees – see Department of Labor overview.
  • Effective July 2, 2025, NYC Earned Safe and Sick Time Act (ESSTA) amended to include paid prenatal leave (PPL) which applies to employers of all sizes. Employers must have a written policy, detailed recordkeeping and pay statement notices for PPL. See city FAQs and a Notice of Employee Rights.
